Credit-linked address data
Credit-linked address searches: the strongest address record, under the strictest rules
Credit reporting sources hold the most current address data available in New Zealand, and they carry the tightest access rules of any source on the platform. Both of those facts matter equally.
The problem this answers
People update their address with a lender long before they update it anywhere else, which is why credit-linked records so often carry the address nothing else has.
That same value is why access is restricted. A credit file is not a directory, and reaching into one requires a purpose the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020 recognises.
What the search returns
- The current address recorded on file, with the date it was recorded.
- Previous addresses in sequence.
- Contact points held against the record, where the source holds them.
- Identity detail sufficient to confirm that the record and the subject are the same person.
When it is used
- Recovery of an existing debt, which is the most common permitted basis for this kind of access.
- Locating a party in a proceeding where the firm has a purpose the Code permits.
- Confirming an address before service, where the enquiry is properly connected to the matter.
What it does not establish
- This is an address enquiry, not a credit report. It does not return a credit score, account conduct, defaults or judgments.
- A recorded address is not proof of occupancy.
- The date shown is the date the source recorded the information.
The limits on the enquiry
- Access is available only for purposes permitted under the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020, declared before the search runs.
- The purpose declared is recorded with the query, the user and the timestamp, and is retained in the audit log.
- Credit information is used only for the declared purpose, and is not retained for marketing, resold or publicly indexed.
- Where a purpose does not support credit-linked access, the enquiry runs against the other licensed sources instead.
The statutory position is set out in full on the compliance page.
Who may access it
- Verified account holders whose class of user and declared purpose satisfy the Code, most commonly recoveries and collections teams, law firms and licensed investigators instructed on a recovery matter.
- Full individual and commercial credit checks from Centrix and Equifax are in integration and are a separate capability, supplied with the subject's consent or on a basis the Code permits without it.
How intelID consolidates the result
Credit-linked address records return alongside directory, company and property addresses, so the strongest record can be corroborated against independent sources rather than trusted alone.
The Code-permitted purpose declared for the search is the same declaration that governs the rest of the enquiry, and it sits in the same audit entry.
What you pay is the monthly subscription plus the searches you run, set out on the pricing page. Every integrated source and its legal basis is listed on the data sources page.
Questions about credit-linked address data
Who can access credit-linked address data?
Users whose class and declared purpose satisfy the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020. Recovery of an existing debt is the most common basis. The purpose is declared before the search runs and recorded with it.
Does this return a credit report?
No. It is an address and contact enquiry. Full individual and commercial credit reports are a separate capability, currently in integration.
What happens if my purpose does not permit credit access?
The enquiry runs against the other licensed sources: directory, company, property, PPSR, insolvency and digital footprint records.
